Fecal or Urinary Incontinence and Social Security Disability

Incontinence, or bowel/bladder frequency issues can support a finding of disabled from Social Security disability.  If the evidence in your case documents problems you are having controlling your bowel or bladder, or indicates that you need to take an unscheduled restroom break hourly or even 3 to 4 times per day, most administrative law judges will conclude that you do not have the capacity for competitive work.

Urinary Incontinence Case Study #1 – 52 year old female diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.  Since her alleged onset date, my client underwent two surgeries on her bladder to address frequency, urgency and control.  These surgeries resulted in some improvement in symptoms but have left her incontinent and needing to use the restroom 6 to 10 times per day.
